I despise how the author see this. Vilain from lover is fine to a certain point. Dan has been rape and abuse mentaly and physicaly.
Do you think him crying a bit and saying sorry is enough to make a make up sex sweet ?
This sending a wrong message : no matter how toxic you partner is, as long as he is really sorry forgive him.
I really hope the season 2 is about making Dan gain confidence, love him self and finding money and love he deserve.
I would really enjoy him having a "redemption arc" where Dan may forgive him but not forget what he did ans refuse to be together with him for his mental health and self respect.

Yeah I disagree.
Honestly it always depends on the type of abuse and how extreme you want to be with it.
I think JK has passed the point of believable redemption that I'm willing to root for.
A little bit of flawed toxicity at the start is fine and if the story is written well, I take no issue but drawing an abusive toxic top for preference doesn't sit right with me.
A lot of people will disagree but either make a shorter season 1 in favor of changing the Top starting with the next season or do it in season 1 and make the plot evolve around it being too late and JK desperately looking to redeem himself. (Then Dan leaves initiating season 2).
Redemption starts with oneself, it's not only Dan, but he's a jerk to everyone and has his own issues with pressure and stress & handling it badly.
It's such a shame bc the creator's note once again shows how absolutely talented Mingwa truly is, the sketches of Dan in maid look and hamster were to die for! It's gorgeous but wasted on a toxic plot.
Guess that's the type of stories she's into and I don't want to kink shame anyone but I think it can be done less excessive and still achieve the same result.
