I cant remember how long ago but i was reading a straight romance type of story in an office setting. I cant remember a lot but i do remember one of the plot points being that the FL was constantly getting scolded by the boss (Who i think was the ML) because she was constantly messing up her work. This doesn't happen here. Emi, who reincarnated into Remilia's body, did her best to create the best future for Remilia, who Emi loved the most in the story. She also fell in love with the prince who became her fiance. Emi also helped the other male leads (I don't really care to remember their names) overcome their problems or traumas and she herself became a strong and influential person. She still got betrayed by all the male leads in the end though.
And the tragedy of it all was that those dumbasses did it because they loved Emi. They were under the effect of love potion, sure, but it turns out they could do something about it and chose not to. Why? Because they all felt good when she tried to warn them away from the saintess, thinking Emi felt jealous of her. Because all the secondary male leads thought they could comfort and help Emi after she was arrested and win her affection that way, since she wouldn't be the prince's fiance anymore. And the prince? He actually loved Emi, but Emi tried so hard to be worthy of him that she actually left him in the dust when it came to pretty much everything, so he tried to drag her through the mud and make Emi a criminal just so he wouldn't feel unworthy of her and marry her from a higher position. What a piece of ****. He actually fantasized about making Emi his second wife (the saintess would have to be the first wife) where he would love her but she would never be at the same standing as him since she would be a past criminal.
Tragically, the day of their betrayal would become the last day they would ever see Emi. She was so devastated by it that she pretty much had a mental shutdown. She effectively died at that moment, only coming back as Remilia's daughter like a decade later with no memory of her past lives. It's actually a bit of a shame Remilia never told those dumbasses about Emi and what they did to her.
Nevertheless, I just like that these guys don't get magically forgiven for their betrayal. Emi might have, but their own actions basically killed her. And Remilia is a villainess who originally loved only Emi, she is not one to forgive. I wouldn't be surprised if she never allowed those guys anywhere close to her children (the reborn Emi and the original saintess).
Though thinking about it, Emi really did accomplish her goal. "Emi's Remilia" was a strong and compassionate person, and by acting out that role Remilia really did achieve her happy ending. It probably helped that Remilia did everything out of love for Emi and she just wanted to create a world that Emi would be happy to live in.
